The sun was just begining to set down on the fire nation capitol as the Agni Kai was set to begin. The crowd was roaring, all the spectators where ready for another battle of the ages. There had been many fights that day and many of them not ending so well. The hot air was proof of that, still fresh with the smell of death, and so was the fresh blood thats till lay on the ground.

In this Agni Kai weapons where offered, a large rack of deadly weapons stood behind each participent some still laced with blood from precious battles. Kai only chose one simple knife and tucked it into her pocket with no intention of using it.

She was breathing kind of heavy and had her best poker face on which was good because she was very close to passing out from fear. She stood on the designated spot for her to stand at the begining of the duel and kneeled down facing away from her opponent, waiting for the duel to begin.

Tessa;

Tessa's brow was furrowed, coated in sweat from stress. She'd made an insistance that she be allowed to use her own daggers; and with some mocking had been allowed. She smiled as she twirled one around her hand. They didn't know the full power of these things, although it lay in nothing mystical. They were harmless child's daggers to them. She cleaned each one carefully, breathing slowly to calm herself down. Pulling the cloth away, she could see her own reflection in her self-invented daggers. She hooked them into the holsters on either side of her shorts.

The small, pixie-like girl stepped out of her enterance, keeping her breathing steady as she stepped forward. The easiest way to do this was to detach. She was living in her own dream world; a world where this was just practice, not a fight to the death. She looked her opponent over with a steady gaze, and forced herself to be honest with the facts.

The other girl was much older than she was, taller too. She was probably a much more advanced bender than Tessa.

So Tessa would have to be smarter.

Her hands hovered by her sides as she waited for the battle to begin.

The fire lord would sit and observe from the golden balcony from above. He choose the two combatents carefully, The winner would surely get a spot in royal palace, and the power to become a personal guard to the fire lord. Also money to last them a life time.

He settled back into his throne chair, and would wait for the announcer to start the bought.

Kai would continue to stay turned away form her opponent for a little while longer. The crowd was getting restless, their cries could be herd through the areana. She would sloses her eyes with a shake then when they opened everything was gone, all emotion had escaped her, she was cool calm and ready.

She stood up slowly, still turned from her opponent ash she slowly turned twordes the girl she squared her up instantly. She was smaller and appeared younger, but Kai made sure nto to underestamate her opponent, she wasn't that stupid. She knew her game plan, she wanted to make this as quick as possible, even though her cardio was great and she could go for a long time.

Whens he was eyeing her opponent thats when she noticed the firelord's entrance. From this she would draw a bit of a smile and with a chuckle she would turn back to Tessa, " Looks like the Firelord has nothing better to do, isn't this an honor " with this her head went back into the fight, She counted the distance between them, only 10 yards. As she took her battle stance she waited for the fight to start.

"That's one way to put it," she said quietly. Her voice was restrained, calm.

Tessa's mouth felt dry. Where was the justice in making a 15 year old fight someone with a third of her years and double her experience on her? Where was the-
She heard the announcement start. The words were unimportant, she tuned out completely. A load of drivel about the honor of serving the fire lord, this great match. She knew she was the joke of the crowd. She could almost see them singling her out as the loser.
She hoped they were wrong. She pulled out the two small daggers and gripped them carefully in her hands. Just the right tightness to be in control, and the looseness for easy mobilization. Brow furrowed, she was ready now.

The announcement finished. The horn blew.
She gulped.

It took all the force she had not to run, to bolt out of the arena. Instead, she stood still where she was, staring at her opponent, ready to move. She would not make a mistake and be rash.

Kai breathed easy, she relaxed, she wasn't going to underestimate Tessa and she wasn't gonna lose. Kaio listened through the announcment paying no intention to any of it just focusing on her plan and what would happen if it went wrong. Then she herd the horn, and it was time.

It seemed that she would have to make the first move and that was fine with her, she was in combat mode now. Kai made her start, she would step back on one leg and send a wave of fire down to the ground about 1 yard infront of Tessa and thats where it stayed, then the fire shot up into the air creating a wall infront of them a little bit onfront of Tessa, but this wasn't meant to harm her.

Within a few seconds, Kai cleared the diatnce between them hidden by the wall of fire, then she jumped through it. It was ment to be a surprise, whens he came through the wall she was infront of Tessa and as she went twordes her opponent she cocked her arm back, throwing an overhand right punch twordes Tessa's jaw, it had the power of all her momentum from running and all the speed that came with it, the punch was aimed twordes Tessa's jaw.

Tessa jumped back instinctively from the fire, finding herself backed against the wall. Crud, that wasn't a good posistion, She pulled the daggers right out and readied them to attack. It was then that the other girl jumped out and punched her squarely in the jaw, causing a terrible ache. Tessa took this opportunity to make a swift stab, aimed at her gut, concentrating to push fire through the blade.

She didn't even realise what she was doing until she'd made the movement.

Half of her didn't want it to hit.

Kai felt her hand land flush onto Terra's chin, and it felt good. She smelt blood, not litterally but figuratively, she knew how hard she threw that shot and it landed flush, she knew no one could take many more of those, but she had to keep pushing the pase of the fight and she had to watch for counter attacks.

And there it was. The girl had made a fire stab with dagger. Kai couldn't use her right hand, it was already to far away from landing the punch. So instead she used her already chambered left arm to doa middle inblock to the stab, this didn't block the stab, only pushed it to the left side of Kai's body so that the fire and blade missed slightly.

As this happened Kai took the opertunity to notice th eoprative psoitioning she had and brought her right hand back and threw a right hook to terra's ribcage ( that would be terra's left side). Kai used her full body momentum on the shot, if it landed flush ti could cause Tessa to topple, even break a rib or two.

Tessa growled under her breath, cursing herself for the miss. Her jaw was still aching, and she kept an eye out for the woman's next mo- there it was, thwack! She dodged out of the way, swerving to the side just in time. That could have been nasty.

Tessa wanted nothing more than to blast fire at the other girl, but she knew that would just send things out of control. She had to stay calm. She ducked out of the way and spun quickly to the back of the girl. A right stab and she let out the blast of fire with her dagger, with hope of burning the girl's right shoulder. Success or fail, she'd take a few steps back to prepare for the next attack.

Kai could feel a slight twinge as her right hand collided with the stone of the wall and she cursed under her breath. Her hand was fine, after all, it was probably harder then the stone it hit. When the girl shot away she could see the all the large cracks in the wall at the point of impact. Thats how hard she could throw punches.

Kai readied herself, she the next hit was coming soon, and form the first attack that the girl threw that she was using the daggers as a medium for the fire...smart she thought to herself, plus they serve good in close combat. None the less she prepared herself.

She already began charging towards the girl , thats when the fire came, she executed a very front roll as it was coming, but it was a moment too late she could feel the Syngeing heat on her left shoulder but she continued on, the long roll released her right in-front of the girl as she took a few steps back, and as Kai rose with the momentum of hard roll with an uppercut aimed at Tessa's jaw.

The punch was too quick for Tessa; it hit her squarely in the jaw. Tessa felt the knock, and nearly fell back, but stabilized herself by digging a dagger in the ground and pulling herself up. She could not have many more of those. But on the other hand, the girl seemed obsessed with targetting this one point. That was an interesting strategy, wearing her down by this one mark. Tessa worked out that she must seem scattered. That was both good and bad. It meant that the other girl would never know what she was about to do for sure, but it lessened her chances of getting in a few quick hits in one spot to wear her down. Still, burn the other girl carefully and she'd fall to pieces.
Tessa found herself wondering when, exactly, she became so savage and malicious.
Tessa moved her jaw quickly and carefully while she mulled this over for a split second, whilst already segwaying in her next move. She was fairly sure she'd lost a tooth or two, and there was blood, but it wasn't broken. While these thoughts raced through her brain, she swiftly tucked a dagger into her holster, holding the other one at the ready, as she raced to make a sharp punch to the nose.

Kai for the second time felt her fist connect with the young girl's jaw. Her game plan was successful so far. She shook her fist out slightly from the cringe of pain from how hard her fist connected with the girls jaw. But she kept her wits about her.

She may have looked wild and speratic but this was her game. Then she saw the next girl attacking, she was trying to hit her ? an odd strategy, this was her domain. The punch came towards her face and she threw both her hands up to block quickly, from there She step towards and a past from Tessa and Threw a right roundhouse kick towards the girl's left temple. If Tessa thought Kai's punches where strong, she was in a bind with her kicks.

Tessa nearly paniced, but spotting an opportunity where it presented itself, with the hand free of a dagger currently, she swerved backwards and sent a swath of fresh fire towards Kai's leg as it swung towards her, ducking just in time to avoid its impact. She made a careful attempt to roll out of the way, standing and grabbing her dagger as she did so, ready to spurt another shoot of fire if the effect was not that which was desired.

Tessa was fats, faster then Kai really expected but she wasn't stupid she knew something like this was coming. As Tess lashed the fire at her leg she countered. With the kick she shot fire from her shin, matching tessa's fire as she shot straight through tessa's wave.

When Tessa rolled away Kai would sigh. Too much retreating. Kai charged at her, not crazily, but very quick and with a plan. She readied herself for any incoming fire or for Tessa to retriet or counter and as she closed the distance within seconds Kai charged she socked back her fist ready to punch, but suddenly changed levels, dropping down and attempting to grab Tessa's legs for a double leg take-down, if successful Kai would probably land in Tessa's half guard and Kai would imminently start throwing hard punches at Tessa's temple.

Fire lord lei sat watching the fight, he had liked the way the young girl names kai fought, she was quick and deadly.But the other girl was defenitly holding back.She had more to her, He sat up even larger in his throne, as the crowd would cheer just at the fire lord sitting upwards.

It amused him but the crowd was really funny to him.

Tessa darted out of the way of the attack- but, as she did so, keeled over in her place. Her heart was thudding fast as she sat, frozen in place. She felt like everything was pulsing around her. She felt naseous, dizzy- she was about to throw up. This was clearly unconnected to the fight, to the heat, or anything.
Then she keeled over.
Thud-thud-thud-thud-thud.
She was dead.

Kai would stand back up and look at tessa collapse "so does this mean i win ?"
