No one could say everything in Fayla's life went perfectly smoothly. And Fayla would be the last to admit it. After all she had been through during the course of her life, she would not lie and say she had it easy just because she was the wife of the Fire Lord. Still, despite all this, Fayla was actually rather pleased with her pregnancy so far. Not so much the fact that she was pregnant (although that was quite a blessing, make no mistake), but more so the fact that there were no real issues. Many of her maidens and attendants had been telling her horror stories of late nights spent doing nothing but throwing up, incredible pain, and much worse. One servant girl even swore that she heard from her neighbor's sister that there was a woman who died because their son actually managed to unintentionally firebend while in the womb. Sheesh, what a way to go.
But no, none of that happened. Sure there were some days that were...less that pleasant. But nothing she couldn't handle. Please, she was a highly skilled firebender who had been raised to fight, kill, and more. An upset stomach or two....or seven? No problem. Bring it on world.
That morning, Fayla was walking inside the palace, watching the sun rise. She liked to get up really early, even if Lei was asleep. It was more peaceful and serene during this time. In fact, given all that was happening it was probably the only time of peace she was able to get every day. She sighed and placed both hands on the nearby banister. There was never a moment of rest. Even now, something was happening, people were turning on her husband, and armies were growing stronger every day to prepare for a civil war. This is not what this nation deserved...but she knew it was what was necessary. She, like Lei, wanted their family to stay in power, and she was willing to do what was necessary to achieve that goal. She would stand by him, no matter what obstacle got in the way. She was strong, she was ready, she was-
HOLY MOON SPIRIT WAS WAS THAT?! Out of nowhere, Fayla felt something like she never felt before. It was almost like she urinated herself, but not quite. Almost like...almost like.
Dammit. This was poorly timed. That's alright, she thought to herself in a semi panicked tone, you've been over this, you know what to do.
"GET LEI." Her voice was loud but controlled, no need to project the total loss of cool she was experiencing. "The baby's coming!" One of her servants heard the call and rushed off to find Lei. For Fayla's sake, and probably Lei's, he'd better find him in time.
